The Magic of Baseball in West Bend

There is something truly magical about the game of baseball, especially when shared with family and friends. It's the feeling that washes over us when we watch a movie like The Sandlot. It's the bond formed between a parent and child during a game of catch in the backyard, the thrill of sneaking in one more inning well past bedtime on a school night, and the awe of watching someone do things on the field that you can only dream of. That is the poetry of baseball.

My love for the game took root right here in West Bend, watching players take the field at Carl M. Kuss Memorial FIeld in Regner Park, with its ivy-covered fences, packed grandstands, and the bold "West Bend" marquee crowning it all. I wanted to be one of those guys out there. And when I finally got my chance, it was everything I had hoped it would be.

That experience left a mark on me. Knowing what it meant to step onto Carl M. Kuss Memorial Field, I became determined to make sure every kid who shared that same dream would have the chance to live it too.

That's why I'm involved with the West Bend Baseball Association. The WBBA is built on a shared vision: to promote the game, give back to the community, and honor baseball's legacy. From awarding scholarships and supporting youth, high school, and adult programs, to recognizing the game's past greats and preserving Carl M. Kuss Memorial Field as the crown jewel it has always been — the WBBA is committed to all of it.

Since its founding, the WBBA has raised and reinvested more than $3.5 million back into the game and the community. A renovated facility, new dugouts, annual scholarships, Monument Park, and a state of the art lights, sound, and scoreboard are just a few examples of how the organization has worked to give back to a game that has given so much to all of us.

Looking ahead, the WBBA is positioned for the long term. We are committed to keeping baseball strong in the West Bend area, maintaining first class fields and facilities, and preserving the experience that so many of us remember and cherish.

From Little League to club ball, from high school to adult amateur baseball, the West Bend Baseball Association welcomes everyone. Regardless of race, gender, or ability, we believe every person deserves the same chance to chase their baseball dreams and fall in love with this game.
